# PayEx Gift Card

Sell and redeem PayEx gift cards from the till.

## What is this?

PayEx Gift Card lets you take payment with a gift card issued on PayEx's gift card platform. At the till it is called **Payex giftcard**.

You can sell these cards too. A PayEx gift card product line loads the amount onto the card when the sale completes.

## How does it work?

On **Choose payment method**, pick the method and fill in **Payex giftcard ID** and the three-digit **CVC** printed on the card. Both are required.

As soon as the number and the CVC are complete, the till looks the card up and shows what is on it. The amount fills in with whichever is smaller — the balance or what is left to pay — so a card that does not cover the whole sale pays for part of it and you settle the rest another way.

Flow Retail refuses the payment if the balance is too low or the card has passed its expiry date.

{% hint style="warning" %}
A PayEx gift card cannot be used to pay money back. Refund on another payment method instead.
{% endhint %}

## How do we get started?

Enter the credentials PayEx gives you under **Admin → Settings → Extensions**: **OAuth2 Client ID**, **OAuth2 Client Secret**, **HMAC User** and **HMAC Secret**. Each store then needs the extension on its own **Extensions** tab, with that store's **Agreement Merchant ID**.

Then add the payment method under **Admin → Settings → Payment Methods**, and set it <kbd>Active</kbd> on every store that should accept it.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.flowretail.com/docs/day-to-day-operations/selling/payments/payment-methods/payex-gift-card.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
