# Swedbank Pay (PayEx)

Take card payments on a Swedbank Pay terminal connected to the till over your own network.

## What is this?

The Swedbank Pay extension lets you take card payments on a terminal that sits on the same network as the till. It is the one card terminal Flow Client talks to directly rather than through us. Both the extension and the payment method still carry the older PayEx name in the product, so the cashier sees **PayEx terminal**.

## How does it work?

Each till is paired with one terminal, and a till can only carry one terminal brand at a time.

Register the sale as normal and choose **PayEx terminal**. Flow Client opens a connection to the terminal at its address on your network, sends the amount, and shows the terminal's own display text on screen while the customer pays. When the payment finishes, the connection closes again.

{% hint style="warning" %}
A Swedbank Pay refund always goes through the terminal, whatever the customer paid with. The customer has to be there with their card — there is no card-free refund.
{% endhint %}

## How do we get started?

Ask us to switch on the Swedbank Pay extension for your organization. Everything after that is yours to do.

Add the payment method under **Admin → Settings → Payment Methods**. There are no account credentials to enter in Flow Admin — the till reaches the terminal on your own network, not through a cloud account.

Activate the payment method for the store under **Admin → Stores → \[store] → Payment Methods**. Then open each till under **Tills**, set **Payment Terminal** to <kbd>PayEx</kbd>, and enter the **PayEx Terminal IP Address**, **PayEx Terminal Port** and **PayEx Command Queue**.

If the till cannot reach the terminal, it says so plainly: **PayEx terminal connection failed**, or **PayEx terminal-IP is missing** when the address was never set.

Swedbank Pay runs on Flow Client only. Flow Assistant does not support it.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.flowretail.com/docs/day-to-day-operations/selling/payments/payment-methods/swedbank-pay-payex.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
