# Inter-store trade

Order goods from other stores, send goods to the stores that order from you, and see how the two sides stay in step.

Order goods from your central warehouse or a sister store, and send goods to the stores that order from you. Assistant keeps both sides in step, so nobody keys anything twice.

![A central warehouse buys from a supplier. Shop A orders for a customer and Shop B orders stock. The warehouse gets a sales order for each shop, receives the goods, sends them, and each shop registers a goods receipt. Below: the shop's purchase order and the warehouse's sales order are coupled one to one.](https://593715853-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F0GCVniU8V4PZKEK4axWz%2Fuploads%2F8DqrXS1wNiBpRI3QPFas%2Finter-store-overview.svg?alt=media)

## What you need

* Inter-store trade is switched on for your organization (see [Inter-store trade](/docs/advanced-features/inter-store-trade.md)).
* To buy, your store has a customer that stands for it. To sell, it has a supplier. An administrator links them in Flow Admin (see [Set up inter-store trade](/docs/advanced-features/inter-store-trade/set-up-inter-store-trade.md)).

Assistant shows only what fits your store. **Order for customer** lists other stores when your store can buy, and **To the stores** shows under **More** › **Stock** › **In and out** when it can sell. The central warehouse's shelf is listed too when your organization uses the **Central warehouse** extension.

## Order for a customer

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Tap the line

In the sale, tap the product line, then **Order for customer**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Choose where the goods come from

Your own purchase orders come first. Then the central warehouse and **Other stores**, with how many are **free**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Reserve

Assistant asks **Reserve 2 from Storgata?** Tap **Reserve**. Your store gets a purchase order to that store, and they get the order right away.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Receive and hand over

The line says **Coming from Storgata** until the goods arrive. Register them in **Goods receipt**, and the order is ready to hand over.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

More in [Order from another store](/docs/getting-started/software-clients/assistant/sales.md#order-from-another-store).

## Restock your shop

Create a purchase order to the supplier that stands for the warehouse, add the products and tap **Send to supplier**. To take goods off a delivery that is already coming in to another store, tap the line and **Take from what is on its way in to Storgata**. When the warehouse sends them, a goods receipt waits for you to register.

More in [Buy from another store](/docs/getting-started/software-clients/assistant/purchasing.md#buy-from-another-store).

## Send goods to a shop

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Open To the stores

Each row is a sale to a shop, with **Ready**, **2 waiting** or **Sent**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Settle it, if it is not paid

Tap **Settle and send**, choose how it is paid and take the payment. Assistant goes straight on to the delivery.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Pick and confirm

Hand over as usual. Add a **Tracking number (optional)**. The shop gets its goods receipt right away.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

Send the whole delivery at once: the shop gets its goods receipt only when everything is sent. More in [Send goods to another store](/docs/getting-started/software-clients/assistant/deliveries-and-receiving-goods.md#send-goods-to-another-store).

## When Assistant says no

| Assistant says | What to do |
| ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Someone else took them first. Choose again.** | Pick another row. The free goods went to someone else in the meantime |
| **Storgata has promised the goods to customers. Call Storgata and ask them to release them first.** | They must release the goods before the line can shrink or be deleted |
| **Storgata already has a goods receipt for this, so it can't be changed here. Call Storgata, or make a return.** | The goods are in their stock. Credit the sale instead |
| **The purchase order at Storgata is closed and takes nothing more. Call Storgata, or make a new sale.** | Their purchase order is closed. Nothing new can be added |
| **Storgata has promised the goods to customers. Call Storgata and ask them to release them before the return.** | The return would take goods they have promised on |
| **Trade between stores must be in the store's own currency. This purchase order has another one.** | Use a purchase order in your own currency |
| **Storgata is not set up to sell to other stores.** | Ask an administrator to link a supplier to that store |
| **A line from another store must have a price. Put the price back.** | Lines between stores always carry a price |

## Returns

Credit a sale to a shop with a return, as usual (see [Returns and exchanges](/docs/getting-started/software-clients/assistant/returns-and-exchanges.md)). Once the return is settled, the shop's purchase line shrinks to match, unless it has already received the goods. An exchange to a shop is not supported.

{% hint style="info" %}
Setting up the stores, the customers and suppliers that stand for them, and the markup happens in Flow Admin. The pricing rules and what the trade does to your figures are in [Inter-store trade](/docs/advanced-features/inter-store-trade.md).
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.flowretail.com/docs/getting-started/software-clients/assistant/inter-store-trade.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
